The Vernon Soccer Club (VSC) is a non-profit volunteer based organization. VSC is not affiliated with the Vernon Parks & Recreational Department, however, we do work closely with the town of Vernon and other organizations to provide soccer
To volunteer as a parent coach, assistant coach, team manager or league director for a VSCRec or Travel soccer team, please be sure you complete the following steps:
REGISTER FOR A VSC VOLUNTEER PROGRAM. Use the large "REGISTER" botton on top right hand corner of the VSC home page to register to become a VSC volunteer. You can register to volunteer for a position assisting within VSCRec or Travel programs.
DOB:CJSA and the VSC require that all adult volunteers provide their date of birth -- be sure your VSC account includes your birth date or you can not be a volunteer.
Mandatory On-Line Background Check: The Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and the VSC require that all volunteers 18 years of age or older working with children complete a mandatory on-line background check. When you register in the step above, the system will prompt you to complete the background check. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "Vernon" WHEN PROMPTED TO "SELECT YOUR ORGANIZATION". Also, be sure to use the EXACT same name and DOB which you used to register with VSCor the background system will not be able to match your name. The on-line background check takes 2 to 3 minutes to complete and the background clearance is good for 3 years.
TRAVEL COACHING -- if this requirement is not done, or if names do not match, the CJSA system WILL NOT print your pass or name on the roster and you will not be allowed to coach.
Beginning January 1, 2010, all VSC volunteers (coaches, assistant coaches, managers, Rec league directors and board members) will be required to complete the mandatory on-line background check even if you have previously completed a written background check for previous volunteer positions
Attend Parent Coach or Travel Team Manger's Meeting. Meetings will be held before the start of each soccer season for all VSC parent volunteers. It is very important that all parent volunteers attend one of these meeting. Dates and times will be posted on the VSC website.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A VOLUNTEER POSITION UNTIL ALL MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.
If you have already regsistered as a volunteer, but for some reason have not completed a backround check, click here to go to to the CJSA website where you will be able to complete the background check. Be sure to select "Vernon" when prompted for your organization name.
